Africa's Children in Education

Your Christmas Gift to Imamu and his family

Only two weeks ago, our blog featured little Imamu. Still only two years old, he has a medical condition that is likely to exclude him from having an education. Cindy, one of the medical students who visited Arise School this summer, deeply touched by Imamu’s plight and the poverty of his family circumstances, returned to the U.K. determined to raise enough money to make it possible for him to have the operation he desperately needs.

We are delighted to report that already enough money has been generously donated to give Imamu and his family the best Christmas gift possible – the cost of his operation. When Frank conveyed the news to Imamu’s mother, in his words, “she jumped up with tears of joy saying ‘asante sana’ (thank you very much) to all who have made this possible”. In fact, Frank’s wife, Salome, took Imamu and his mother to the hospital this week and his operation is already scheduled for January 18th. A huge “thank you”, too, from Cindy and ourselves. What wonderful news to start the holiday season!
This is another excellent example of how Arise School is not only providing children with an education but, also, making a very real difference in the local community. We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all your ongoing support of ACE. On behalf of our ACE Management Committee, Frank and Salome and everyone at Arise School and, of course, ourselves, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We leave you with a special greeting from the children of Arise……………..
