Walking Israel for ACE!

Yes, you read that right! Bex and Gil, the intrepid couple who very recently undertook “Scoot the Loop”, a unique challenge to raise money for Arise Community School (see our blog of 12th. August, 2016), have recently arrived in Israel to start yet another another unique challenge for the charity.

In Bex’s words:

‘We have decided to take on a massive challenge that will see us walk over 1000km the full length of Israel. The adventure will take us two months to complete and we will carry all our own supplies, wild camping each night. We are doing the walk for ACE and hope that we can raise money and awareness along our journey to help support the Arise School in Tanzania.

Along the way we will be aiming to meet and talk with 100 people and will share their stories. I think hiking and meeting people is the best way to really get to know a country and hope to show a more positive side to Israel which so often is plagued with negativity from the outside world.”

Bex and Gil’s latest venture will start in Kibutz Dan, the most northerly point of Israel and finish in Eilat, on the coast at the Red Sea. They plan to walk 25 – 30 kms each day with one day off per week to rest. Whilst they will cross a variety of terrains, the toughest part of their challenge will be the desert conditions and avoiding heat stroke, falls, snake bites and getting lost!

Both Bex and Gil are experienced hikers and have done their research but this must surely be their toughest challenge yet! They are an amazing couple and are hoping their various challenges will raise a massive total of £8,000 for ACE.
