Picnics in the Park comes to Fruition!

imageIn early September 2014, one of our blogs featured the fundraising efforts of a very close friend, Sue Woodcock. Sue asked for donations to ACE instead of presents for her 70th. birthday. In particular, she held two “picnics in the park” for family and friends. Today, we are delighted to post the piece below from Sue showing the success of her efforts. She writes:

“I was excited and delighted to receive the photos of “my” chairs and desks being delivered to Arise last week. I say “my” as they were the result of my decision to ask for Donations to ACE last year. This was in lieu of presents for my 70th birthday!
Thanks to the generosity of family and friends the total reached £2100! Amazing!

Sue, Ron and I had decided that my Donation would go towards providing the furniture for the fourth classroom. Wonderful to see the children taking delivery of the chairs and desks and such fun to see them painted pink! Hopefully it will give more children the opportunity of an education at Arise, such an invaluable contribution to life in Tanzania.

My birthday Appeal has also found two new Sponsors, which is another brilliant outcome.

So the conclusion of an amazing year for me…my birthday picnics were a wonderful occasion for 100 of my family and friends in Manchester and Harpenden …and the provision of the school furniture a long lasting gift to Arise”.
Sue
A huge “thank you”, Sue, for your birthday gift and tremendous efforts from all the children and staff at Arise Community School.
