“Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud!”

imageIn the last couple of years, one of the things that has given us so much pleasure is the work we have done in several local primary schools to fundraise for ACE. Not only have the children and staff of the various schools embraced the charity and raised money for the children of Arise School but also their parents and families.

Anthony Mullen’s daughter, Brooke, attends Cronton C. of E. Primary School. In December 2015, then aged only 6 years old, Brooke gave her pocket money to “Buy a Breakfast” as a Christmas present for a child at Arise School. On September 10th, her Dad, with the support of some friends from work, will challenge himself physically and mentally by undertaking the “Tough Mudder North West” to raise money for ACE.

Like us, you may be asking “What is the Tough Mudder”! Well, it’s a 10-12 mile course with 20 obstacles – “a mind-numbing combination of new obstacles, unrelenting terrain and the aforementioned mud” – mud, so much mud! – the UK’s “thickest, darkest and sloppiest mud”!

Anthony and his fellow competitors will have to muster every little piece of mental grit in their quest to reach the finishing line. It will also be gruelling physically. They will need to take it to the next level, pushing themselves through it, dragging one another out of it and, no doubt, finding mud in places they never thought possible!

This is what Anthony has to say about the challenge:

“My daughter, Brooke, has taken this charity to her heart wanting to give all her money to help. I’ve told her that’s not possible but we can raise money to help. So this is how I ended up getting roped in!

Not having seen a gym or done any sports for 10 years, I thought I’d need support so asked some friends from work to help. Thankfully, they agreed. Brooke also plans an additional challenge of climbing Mount Snowdon in the near future in her part to raise money.

We all believe ACE Charity is doing a fantastic job in helping educate these youngsters and feel privileged to be a part of this program. We hope our efforts make a difference in their quest to build more classrooms, educate, feed and clothe these beautiful children.”

We wish Anthony and his friends every success on 10th. September. Please support him as he undertakes this gruelling challenge to raise money for ACE by donating online now:

All the money raised will go directly to support the development of Arise School making it possible for more children to have the opportunity of an education and giving them hope in life. Thank you.
