How We Enjoyed Eleanor’s Summer Picnic!

image

A few Saturdays ago, over 50 ACE supporters joined us for “Eleanor’s Summer Picnic” to raise money for the charity. It was yet another brilliant fundraising initiative by Eleanor who, in the last 18 months, has raised over £2,200 for ACE! What makes it even more remarkable is that Eleanor is still only 12 years old!

A variety of sandwiches, followed by ice cream, were enjoyed by all. Delicious home made cake pops were available for a small donation. Eleanor, very ably supported by two of her young friends, Sasha and Luke, waited on tables and served both hot and cold drinks. There were raffle prizes galore, including a lovely doll donated specifically for the event by one of our sponsors. We also had a range of Tanzanian jewellery for sale which proved very popular.

And then the highlight – back by popular demand! – Jimmy B! Jimmy entertained us with well known, popular songs from the ’50’s, ’60’s and ’70’s. Needless to say, feet were tapping as those of us of a certain age recalled the familiar songs from our younger years!

We were delighted that the afternoon raised just over £420. This will go towards our “Buy a block: Build a future” appeal. Although we still have quite a long way to go, we hope we are now on target to complete at least two of the three new classrooms under construction ready for the start of the new school year in January.

Very well done, Eleanor. A huge “Thank You” to you, your family and friends and everyone who came along on the day to make the event such a success. Thank you for helping us to make such a difference in the lives of the children who attend Arise School.

Please add your support by donating online now. Thank you.
