Eleanor’s Vintage Afternoon Tea

For the second year running, last Saturday afternoon, sixty people enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea in aid of ACE. Once again, the initiative was taken by Eleanor, our Young Ambassador for the charity, who previously raised £2,200 for electricity to be installed at Arise School. Amazingly, Eleanor is still only 13 years old!

There was very much an “olde English” feel to the event. The room was beautifully decorated with colourful bunting and the tables tastefully set out with china cups and saucers, plates and cake stands. Eleanor, supported by her Mum, Dad and Aunty, all appropriately dressed in black and white for the occasion, served tea and coffee. The atmosphere was perfect.

Those present were spoiled with dainty finger sandwiches on brown and white bread, homemade scones with cream and jam and a variety of tasty cake bites. To finish, they enjoyed chocolate flowers which had been kindly donated by Beech’s Fine Chocolates.

The chatter of conversation filled the room, only quietening towards the end for the raffle to be drawn. After the lucky winners had chosen their prizes, people continued to support ACE by buying cards, jewellery and small craft items from our charity display.

When all the proceeds were counted, Eleanor had raised a fantastic £470! A short while ago, whilst we were in Tanzania, Eleanor presented to the St. Helens Rotary Club “Dragon’s Den” on our behalf. She was successful in receiving a donation of £300 for ACE towards the purchase of desks and chairs for the next classroom. This means that she has now raised a total of £770 towards the furniture. Eleanor, you are a star! Thank you so much for your brilliant, ongoing support of ACE.
