Cronton Children Come Up Trumps Again!

Following their extremely successful Tanzanian Marketplace to raise money for ACE at the end of last term, the children of Cronton Church of England Primary School have again come up trumps. Along with the Harvest collection from their church, the Cronton Mission Church, the children raised an amazing total of £725 for ACE from their Harvest Services!

The children displayed their creative talents by individually decorating envelopes in which donations were brought into school. We then enjoyed joining them for their services – the younger children for their Harvest Assembly during school time followed, on the Sunday, by the older ones who led the Church’s Harvest Service.

The children and staff had all put a tremendous amount of effort into both events. The younger children’s singing and dancing of “Breakfast Boogie” was brilliant! – a catchy tune that soon had everyone – their parents, staff – and us! – dancing in the aisles.

The older children’s presentation, also linking to the harvest and food, was a poignant reminder of just how much we take food for granted and how important it is to learning. Mrs. Thomson, Headteacher, spoke passionately about three themes running through the school’s work – Children, Education and Community – and how she saw this reflected in the work of ACE.

We were overwhelmed when we heard how much had been raised. It will go towards food for the children at Arise Community School, in particular, making sure that the school can continue to provide every child with a breakfast each day. A massive “Thank You” to everyone whose generosity made this possible – the children, parents and staff, Reverend Lyn and members of her congregation. Thank you, too, for all the school’s ongoing support. You are all “ACE”!
